Oof... I feel sorry for Charlotte. While I understand where Isa is coming from, I feel like this is something that was blown way out of proportions by both parties. While I don't condone Charlotte's rudeness, I understand it nonetheless. From the information given, she had spent practically all of her life growing up without a second parent. So naturally she isn't certain of her mother's lover and would prefer to simply be like: "Look you are my mother's girlfriend/lover. I can be chill with that. Just don't try to be all mushy around me since we've barely started seeing each other in the situation right now." However, Charlotte doesn't exactly know how to actually say that. This is typically the problem with dating single mothers. You aren't just dating the mom, you are dating the children as well because you have to get them to like and respect you in some manner.

Isa on the other hand is already coming off disingenuous, even if she isn't intentionally trying to be disingenuous. Yeah, she started off by asking if her and Charlotte could be friends, but how could you ask that to a teenager, especially one that is legally able to live on their own, and not sympathize with their situation and feelings. As matter of fact, the first thing that she should have done was sympathize with Charlotte's situation and the best way for her to do that is by literally recognizing what Charlotte's life was. Quite frankly, if this were real life and there had been a police officer nearby, then Charlotte could have potentially gotten Isa arrested for doing what she did.

Overall though, this was a pretty good story.
